Our Story
Passion Meets Purpose
The Boafo Pa story is one of empathy, courage and a commitment to transforming lives. It all began with our founders’ strong desire to do something for the public good, as for much of their life, in their country of birth Ghana, West Africa, they saw at firsthand majority of people struggling to make ends meet, because they find themselves in low income brackets.
Our founders’ penchant for helping others, carried over into the establishment of this organization, with the primary objective of making positive impact not just within poor communities back home in Ghana, but across the continent of Africa.
One of our core initiatives is the establishment of libraries in schools and orphanages across Ghana. We recognize the critical role that libraries play in fostering a love for learning, expanding knowledge, and enhancing literacy skills.
By creating well-equipped libraries, Boafo Pa aims to empower young minds, inspire creativity, and improve educational outcomes for children in Ghana.
Boafo Pa means “Good Helper” in Twi – one of the local languages in Ghana – and this reflects what help means to us. That the goal is not just to help passively, but strive to provide support that creates meaningful change. Help that is strategic and sustainable.
What We Do
We build new digital libraries as well as substantially renovate or expand existing ones in schools, children’s homes and community centres within Africa, in order to provide the conducive environment for effective learning, creativity and discovery.
We believe that these libraries open doors to new opportunities and inspire a love for learning amongst children and adults. We also see these libraries as unique centres that bring great minds together and helps promote social cohesion.
There’s universal agreement that a link exists between teacher quality and student achievement. This is why as an organisation, we curate tailor-made training modules for school administrators and teachers to:
» Provide opportunities for them to develop new skills and knowledge.
» Empower them to be educational visionaries and agents of positive change.
» Improve the overall learning outcomes of students.
We offer study opportunities to individuals from pre-school through to University, to lower the burden of tuition fees on their parents and to enable our beneficiaries obtain education that they otherwise wouldn’t have access to.
With rising inflation, more and more young girls in deprived communities in Africa are pushed out of school as their parents are unable to afford sanitary pads for them during menstruation. With our partners, we provide eco-friendly sanitary pads to such girls with the aim of safeguarding their health, education and dignity.
To improve community health, we setup mobile clinics and health programs that provide education on matters such as sanitation and general hygiene, disease prevention, mental health as well as provide other medical consultations, to person in remote areas who do not have access to quality healthcare.
Volunteering
There’s strength in numbers. Which is why it’s always such a great joy to have new volunteers join us at Boafo Pa.
From creating and painting signages, hanging banners through to organising clean up exercises, medical screening programmes, fundraising events and empowerment seminars, we rely on your hands-on support to make great things happen in deprived communities.
